Is travel the first thing that comes to mind when you consider your career as an NNP?
For most of you, it’s probably not, but our experience and the needs of your industry tells us it should be something to consider.
Over the course of my seventeen + years here at ENSEARCH I’ve witnessed the neonatal nurse practitioner role expand, contract and expand again, giving way to new opportunities for NNPs.
Here are just a few reasons why I love locum tenens jobs.
The story of how we started filling locum tenens positions
In the summer of 1998, ENSEARCH was contacted by a Midwest facility in desperate need of NNP assistance. This wasn’t your typical desperate need, meaning 3-6 months down the road. This was a ‘by next Tuesday’ scenario.
The particular hospital was down several FTEs and if shifts were not covered, the facility may have had to close its L&D doors. We accepted the challenge. A few calls later and… ENSEARCH to the rescue!
Thus, the NNP locum tenens side of the house was born.
Since that summer, we’ve seen the need for NNP locum, along with many open requisitions across the nation fluctuate.
Locums are once again in demand. If taking a look at how other NICUs operate across the country, earning some extra pocket money or taking the chance to get away, appeals to you, try giving us a call at 888.NNP.JOBS.
So… do NNPs fly south for the winter? Many are indeed, as well as flying to the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, the Midwest and the Northeast, as well as during spring, summer and fall…and you could be one of them!
